2. Hosting

This website runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. Processing takes place exclusively on servers in Germany. Hetzner provides the infrastructure and, in doing so, processes the connection data required to operate the server. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Hetzner; Hetzner processes personal data only on instruction and in compliance with the GDPR. Details are set out in Hetzner's privacy policy at hetzner.com/legal/privacy-policy.

3. Provision of the website and server log files

When this website is visited, the browser transmits technically necessary data to the web server. In particular, the following data may be processed:

This processing is necessary to deliver the website securely and reliably, to detect errors and to ward off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the secure and uninterrupted operation of the website.

Log data is stored for no longer than 14 days. It is kept longer only where this is necessary to investigate a specific security incident or to comply with legal obligations.

4. Audience measurement with Umami

This website uses the self-hosted web analytics software Umami. It runs on the same server infrastructure as this website. Analytics data is not transmitted to the provider of Umami or to any other analytics service.

Umami records page views together with technical and statistical details. These may include the page visited, the referrer, the time, browser, operating system, device type, screen resolution, language and the country of origin derived from the IP address.

Umami does not set cookies and does not use browser fingerprinting. To form an anonymous session identifier, the IP address, the user agent and the website ID are processed. The IP address is not stored as part of the analytics data. The session identifier does not allow direct identification and is not used across websites.

Query parameters in visited URLs are excluded from collection. If the browser sends the "Do Not Track" signal, the visit is not counted. No individual user identifiers are set and no custom events with personal content are recorded.

The processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in understanding the use of the website in aggregated form and in improving its content and technology. The resulting analytics data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for these purposes.

Data subjects may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to their particular situation. Audience measurement can be switched off for the browser in use at robertrieger.de/en/tracking/; the setting is stored in the browser only. An objection may also be raised through the contact address given above.

5. Contact

When contact is made by email or telephone, the details transmitted, including the contact data provided, are processed in order to handle the enquiry.

Where the enquiry relates to a contract or to pre-contractual measures, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. In other cases the processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in handling the enquiry properly. Where consent has been given, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

The data is deleted once the enquiry has been dealt with conclusively and no statutory retention obligations or other legitimate grounds for further storage exist.

6. External links

This website contains links to external services, for example Mastodon and LinkedIn. A connection to the respective provider is established only when such a link is followed. The data processing there is governed by the privacy information of the respective provider.

7. Encrypted transmission

This website is delivered over HTTPS. Data transferred between the browser and the server is therefore encrypted in line with the current state of the art.

8. Rights of data subjects

Subject to the statutory conditions, data subjects have in particular the following rights:

There is also the right under Art. 77 GDPR to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the authority of the data subject's habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.

9. Language versions

This privacy policy is available in German and English. The English version is provided for convenience; in the event of any discrepancy between the two versions, the German version shall prevail.
